MORE than 200,000 people assembled to watch the race which resulted in a narrow win for Von Branchitsh is a Mercedes, who beat Caracciola on an Alfa-Romeo by 4 seconds only. The 1,500 c.c. class was won easily by Earl Howe (Delage), who drove faultlessly and led from the start. Barnes (Austin) was second, a very fine performance.
