The latest Vivas cover a vast range, with engines of 1,256, 1,759 and 2,279 c.c. in saloons with two and four doors, or 3-door estate cars. The price difference between highest and lowest is over £500 to say nothing of the optional extras; 1,256 c.c. models get bigger tyres (some radials). Bigger clutches figure on 1,256 and 1,759 c.c. models - and there are new metallic paints.
VAUXHALL VIVA ESTATE £1,060
The handsome estate car version of the Viva comes with choice of three engines, 1.2, 1.8 or 2.3-litres and two levels of trim and equipment. The SL versions have radial ply tyres for 1973, door trim is improved and bigger clutches take care of heavy loads. Heated rear window, full carpeting and disc/drum brakes with servo and dual circuits are standard equipment
VAUXHALL FIRENZA £1,314
New star performer of the Firenza range with 2,300 c.c. engine which tops 100 m.p.h. Front seats have reclining backrests. The new instrument panel has easy-to-read circular dials. Padded steering and Starmist metallescent paintwork are standard. Brakes are servo-assisted. Good heating and ventilation includes an airblending heater. Heated rear window, GM automatic transmission and vinyl-covered roof are extra.
VAUXHALL VICTOR £1,454
New this year, the Victor is smoothly styled with a suggestion of the traditional flutes on the bonnet. Standard power plant is the 1.8-litre overhead-cam four; Victor SL has the 2.3-litre version. The 3.3-litre six is obtainable on the 2300 SL, the station wagon version of which has power steering. Overdrive can be had on third and fourth gears, or GM automatic.
VAUXHALL VICTOR ESTATE £1,371
Fitted with the 3.3-litre six-cylinder engine formerly used in Cresta and Viscount, the Victor 3300 SL now has power steering for easy driving with heavy loads. These, and the other versions, with engines of 1.8 or 2.3-litres have heated rear window, and disc/drum power-assisted brakes with dual circuits. De luxe models now have separate front seats instead of a bench.
VAUXHALL VENTORA £1,768
As the big Cresta and Viscount have been dropped, the Ventora becomes top model of the Vauxhall range, distinguishable by its four headlamps and vinyl-covered roof. It has the new Victor body shell with the 3.3-litre six-cylinder engine of the Cresta which has push rod-operated valves. Buyers have the option of overdrive or automatic transmission at extra cost.
