SUNBEAM SPORT £1587
Smallest model in Chrysler UK's Sunbeam range is the Imp-based Sport with twin-carburettor 50 bhp light-alloy overhead camshaft rear engine which is based on the Coventry-Climax racing motor of a few years back. Despite its competition background the Scottish-built unit is light on fuel and flexible, as well as being lively. The Sport has oil cooler, four headlights, simulated wood facia, alternator, and the lift-up rear window is electrically heated. New for 1976 are door mirrors and twin reversing lights. Total luggage capacity is impressive, with space at front and rear.
SUNBEAM ALPINE £1,660
Sporty lines enclose comfortable space for a growing family in the Alpine, which has a number of detail improvements for 1975. New wheel trims are the most obvious but there are also reversing lamps, and two-speed wipers. Under the bonnet a viscous fan coupling reduces noise and cuts power losses at high r.p.m. Transmission options include Laycock de Normanville overdrive or Borg Warner 4-speed automatic.

Sunbeam's two fastbacks are both Rapiers, the lower specification Alpine having been dropped since Chrysler's adoption of the name for their new French-built front-drive range. The Rapier has its 82 bhp Hillman Hunter-based motor at the front, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed gearbox and overdrive unit giving six forward speeds in all. The H120 Rapier has a Hoebay-tuned engine which gives the car a maximum in excess of 100 mph-and effortless cruising. Windows wind-down out of sight on both Rapier models, tinted glass and radio are standard equipment.
Seven new colours are added to the existing range on these and other cars in the British Chrysler range for the 1975 series.
