Singer Hunter Saloon was announced in September 1954. The medium-sized four-door Hunter model superseded the 1948-54 SM 1500 Saloon. The bodystyling is basically similar, except for the radiator grille which is of the upright 'traditional' type, sporting a horse's head mascot. The Hunter feature a modified version of the established four-cylinder 1 ½ -litre OHC engine, fibreglass bonnet panels, twin fog lamps and a fitted tool drawer in the boot.
Hunter S from September 1955 is poverty spec version with no spare wheel, bonnet mascot or chrome strips, and painted grille.
Singer Hunter 75 is a more powerful version, equipped with a twin overhead-camshaft version of the 1497-cc engine, producing 75 bhp at 5250 rpm. It first appeared in October 1955.

Singer Motors Ltd were absorbed into the Rootes Group.
