Built by the respected aircraft company cars, are praised for their quality and longevity. But even the adoption of the Ford V4 engine in the fall of 1966 has not make the now 18-year-old Saab attractive. Its roundish body is outdated, the suspension hard, the steering stiff. Originally it had a two-stroke engine, which was only discontinued last year. In 1967 Saab built 40 387 cars with a V4 engine and 4297 two-strokes, plus 389 of the coupé Sonett. For the future, Saab relies on the larger type 99, which is built from the autumn of 1968 and will be exported from the spring 1969. Its bodywork is as modern as its suspension, and the 1.7-liter engine was developed by Triumph in England, where it is also built.
