The GPRF (Provisional Government of the French Republic) nationalized the company which becomes RNUR (Régie nationale des usines Renault) on 16th of January. Provisional administrator Pierre Lefaucheux manouvers the company through political and social trumoil to a achive remarkable recovery. Under his leadership, the Billancourt staff reorganized the workshops, repaired the damage caused by the bombing and refurbished machine tools in order to be able to resume car production in large numbers. Meanwhile, the Régie only makes fifty trucks a day which is insufficient to support a business of this size. Fortunately an agreement obtained with the US military for the repair of the GMC engines saved the company.
