MOSKVICH 412
£749 (incl. P.T.)
This tough and good-looking Russian saloon has a 1½-litre overhead camshaft engine and illustrates the modernisation which has taken place in the U.S.S.R's motor industry over the last few years. It is extremely well-equipped and robust, the latter attribute being emphasised by its performance in the recent London - Mexico World Cup Rally. Out of 96 starters in the 16,000-mile event only 23 checked in at Mexico City and three Moskvich 412s were amongst them. The engine has five main bearings and is inclined at 20 degrees to maintain a low bonnet line. Drum brakes all-round.
