Three factory custom variations of Mercury production models appeared at the 1953 Chicago show. The 'Bahamian was a Monterey two-door hardtop with a tan body and dark brown roof. Second custom, named 'Contemporary' was an all black convertible. It featured black leather with charcoal and white fabric interior. Third Mercury special was the 'Kentucky Colonel' four-door sedan, painted mint green. The cabin was upholstered in white linen and Milan straw vinyl with mint green welting.
