GT – new model

Great Britain

A Jensen GT was announced in July, a Jensen-Healey with a coupé/estate body.
The business's future is under threat which meant redundancy for 700 workers – two thirds of its workforce. A receiver was appointed by the Bank of America in September. Kjell Qvale laid great emphasis on the part played by the unions in bringing about the downfall of the business.

GT

Coupé wb: 92 in. (2337 mm) R4 cyl, 1973 cc, 140 bhp – July

JENSEN GT £4,198
Introduced last July, Jensen's 2+2 three-door coupé evolves from the Jensen-Healey sports two-seater. Powered by the Lotus-built two-litre 16-valve engine, in unit with a Getrag five-speed gearbox, the sporty new Jensen has individual folding rear seats which makes for many permutations of passenger and load-carrying. With both rear seats folded, the compartment has a capacity of 17.1 cubic feet, and the lift-up tailgate makes for easy loading. Wheelbase is identical to the open sports, so with about 140 bhp under the long bonnet, and with good handling, the GT is a fast all-rounder.
