Jaguar XJ6 Saloon. Introduced amidst a blaze of publicity in the summer of 1968, this impressive newcomer features a low profile, wide-based, four-door body with a rectangular front grille, twin headlamps and slim pillars which gives a large glass area and excellent all-round visibility. The specification includes a new version of the six-cylinder, 2.8 litre, twin ohc, XK engine which develops 180 bhp at 6000 rpm, four-speed all synchromesh gearbox, dual circuit servo-assisted brakes, power-assisted steering (standard on de luxe version), traditional Jaguar facia layout, and luxuriously appointed interior, including leather upholstery on de luxe models. Overdrive and automatic transmission are optionally available. A 4.2-litre engined version is also available.
