By the fall of 1962, the 50,000th Scout had rolled off the assembly line. Bulkheads were removed from the Traveltop models to allow for easier access to the rear of the vehicle. Front bucket seats and a rear bench seat became available to make room for extra passengers. Both half-cab and full-cab soft tops became an option due to popular demand.
