A total of 111,342 vehicles were produced in Hudson's Detroit plants during this year. 8,058 of these were commercial vehicles (Terraplane). Hudson was one of the first American manufacturers to locate the battery in the engine compartment, making it more accessible. In this year Hudson made the ash tray standard equipment and dropped the rumble seat option on Coupés. Optional equipment on the Eight models include the 'Electric Hand' automatic gear shift. Hudson Eights are available with two wb lengths, 122 and 129 in.
