100 m.p.h. Hunter with the Holbay Rapier H.120 engine, Rapier-style close-ratio gearbox and Rapier spring settings for optimum road holding. A new family flier with luxurious interior trim including veneered facia and door cappings, full instrumentation and centre console. Engine changes including twin Weber twin-choke carburettors, modified head, special camshaft and four-branch exhaust give 14 b.h.p. more than standard.
HILLMAN AVENGER GLS £1,199
Following the Hunter GLS, the Avenger gets the same treatment producing a compact high performance family saloon. Replacing the GT it has a fan with viscous coupling freeing an extra 3 b.h.p. at top speed, which is near to 100 m.p.h. Servo brakes, wide rim wheels and radial ply tyres cope with the extra power. Vinyl roof, new cloth seats and greater sound insulation add luxury touches.
HILLMAN AVENGER ESTATE £1,017
Five-door station wagon in two forms, de Luxe and Super. The latter has carpets, console, extra instruments, door pockets, reversing lamps and special wheel trim. Choice of engines too; 1250 or 1500. A Panhard rod is added to the rear suspension. 1500 models have stiffer springs and heavier authorised loads. Front seats fold away and rear seats fold flat to make a camp bed.
HILLMAN IMP £661
Starting with the basic Imp which remains Britain's cheapest saloon car, there are three to choose from, Imp, de luxe and Super Imp, with varying degrees of trim and equipment. All have the smooth-revving light alloy overhead cam engine of 875 c.c. developed from a Coventry Climax design, mounted at the rear. A lift-up rear window makes it a great shopping car.
