Ghia, now controlled by Gino Rovere, Ford's ex-main distributor in Italy, seem less prolific at producing showpieces than in the days of Segre; apparently their policy is to concentrate on high-performance Coupés. In this category they exhibit a new, fast two-seater on a shortened 2300S Fiat chassis, called the G230/S. The engine has been moved back considerably to make room for the spare wheel in front of the radiator, a change which could improve or upset the handling. Last year's Ghia Club model was hailed as something new in body design. This time a similar study is based on a Ford Falcon chassis with four seats and a "fast" back, under which the luggage is housed. It is claimed to combine the advantages of a fast sports saloon with the large carrying capacity of an estate car; but the problems of providing good road-holding and handling at the two extremes of load might be formidable with orthodox suspension systems.
