Consul Cortina Super 118E Saloon is a larger engined (1498-cc) variant which was introduced at the start of the year. It also feature bigger brakes, improved interior trim and body chrome strips and is available in two- and four-door versions with either floor or column change. GT version was also announced during the year. Consul Cortina 118E Estate Car Super was added to the range in March, this variant is available with either column or floor change and feature the mechanical specification and styling of the four-door super saloon but with exterior wood style panelling. Overall length is 1 4 ft ½ in. 113E De Luxe version is also available.
Launched in 1963 the Lotus Cortina had Lotus twin cam engine, close ratio gearbox, and rear axle located by trailing arms and A frame and coil spring suspension. To save weight some body panels were in aluminium as was the diff casing. All had two door bodies. Twin cam engine is based on Ford 1500 Kent engine, fitted with twin Webers, developing 105 bhp giving105 mph. Braking is servo asisted front discs, and rear drums. In service the diff casing which also carried the A bracket distorted and cracked so conventional leaf springs were used from 1964 on. Cream paint with green side flash, lowered suspension, wider wheels, matt black grille and two piece front bumpers identify, but many fakes.
Ford Consul Capri GT Coupé is uprated variant announced early in the year which feature increased bhp, a Weber carburettor, improved interior trim and a GT badge at the rear end. Price £900. Saloon was discontinued in the summer.
Corsair is based on the Cortina floor pan, but with 3" longer wheelbase and longer front and rear overhangs, better rigidity and sound insulation. Designed to fill the model gap between Cortina and Zephyr, it is roomier and better furnished than Cortina but not as bulky as Zephyr. Standard Ford spec of McPherson strut ifs, and semi elliptic rear. Engine is 58 bhp, 1498cc four, giving 84 mph top speed. Gearbox is four speed all synchro, with column change or optional floor shift. Front discs, rear drums. Two door and four door bodies, with estate car, and convertibles by
specialists.
Zephyr 4 got more spaciuos rear seat, and wider track rear axle frpm late 1962.
Trim standard was also upgraded to Zephyr 6. This year floor gear change become available as an option. Similar changes were made to Zephyr 6 and Zodiac models.

Ford Anglia Super 123E Saloon. Announced in November 1962, this version is similar to the 105E model but have a larger engine (1198-cc), bigger brakes, chrome edged body flashes and an improved interior. Wheel trims and a heater are fitted as standard.
Anglia Estate
The Anglia Sportsman, built by Ford of Belgium, at Antwerp is a normal Anglia De Luxe, except that the spare wheel was mounted on the outside of the boot lid.

Ford Consul Cortina Lotus 125E Saloon. Developed by Lotus this powerful, sporting model appeared at the beginning of the year and quickly established itself in the performance saloon car field. Powered by a Lotus-Cortina bored-out, 1558-cc, ohc engine which develop 105 bhp at 5500 rpm. Top speed is 105 mph and acceleration 0-50 mph in 7.5 secs.
