Ford Prefect Model 100E four-door Saloon was introduced in October 1953 and powered by a new side-valve 1172-cc 36-bhp engine. It have low full-width body styling with a vertically-slatted chrome grille. The front wings and the lower part of each rear wing are separate parts bolted to the main body shell - a useful asset in accident repair work. The new independent front suspension is evolved from that of the Consul and Zephyr; conventional leaf springs are fitted at the rear.
Ford Anglia 100E Saloon was announced simultaneously with the Prefect. This two-door version is mechanically identical and use the same basic body shell. At the front it is distinguishable by the radiator grille which comprise three horizontal silver-painted bars. Less comprehensively equipped than the four-door Prefect it weigh about 2 cwt less.
Also available is the Popular which have a similar body to the old Anglia but is powered by the old Prefect engine (previously used for export Anglias).
Ford Zephyr Six models for 1954 have a wing-type bonnet ornament, a flat front bumper centre section, flasher-type direction indicators and a few other changes.
Ford Zodiac Model EOTTA Saloon is a high-performance luxury edition of the Zephyr Six Saloon, added to the range in October 1953. Officially billed as the Zephyr-Zodiac it feature a 71 -bhp engine with 7.5:1 compression ratio and is externally distinguishable by a two-tone colour scheme and white-wall tyres. Standard equipment include leather upholstery, fog and spot lamps, cigar lighter, clock and heater.
