DAIMLER SOVEREIGN £5,590
The slinky Sovereign coupé is powered by the 4.2-litre twin overhead camshaft 'six'—virtually identical to the Jaguar engine of the same capacity. The graceful two-door bodywork is on the 276cm wheelbase, and the electrically-operated windows disappear when fully-open, transforming the snug coupé into a fresh-air roadster. The Sovereign two-door is available with four-speed/overdrive manual or fully-automatic transmission, and there is also a cloth option to the leather-faced seats. Radio, loudspeakers and aerial are standard equipment, and air-conditioning is an optional extra.
DAIMLER DOUBLE SIX Fuel injection: £7,347
The handsome Double-Six is now manufactured in both carburettor and fuel-injection form. The light-alloy V12 engine produces more power with the electronic injection, and it has been possible to raise the gearing of the cars, thus reducing fuel consumption, wear, and noise. In spite of it the injected Daimlers accelerate faster than the carburettor-equipped cars. Injected saloons have a distinctive black vinyl roof, and a chromium body-strip. For the first time, cloth is available as an alternative to the leather/PVC seat and internal trim.
