LN - Paris

France

The LN was launched at the Paris Salon. It has the body shell of the 104 Coupé and the engine is a 32 bhp version of the Citroën 602cc flat twin.
On July 9, 1976, the 1,000,000th GS left the assembly lines of the Citroën factory in Rennes-La Janais.
On 8th of April Peugeot became the majority shareholder (89, 95%) of Citroën, by exchange shares with Michelin, which therefore also becomes a shareholder in Peugeot. On May 12, François Gautier - Chairman of the Executive Board of Peugeot SA - will officially announce the absorption of Citroën and the creation of a new Peugeot-Citroën group under the aegis of the parent company "PSA Peugeot-Citroën".

A new-old addition to the 2 CV range is the Spécial. It has the old four-window body and round headlights. In addition to its exterior without aluminium flashes on the doors it is distinguished from its sisters by simplified dashboard and rustic seats. It is only available in one shade called citron yellow.
Other models continue with some improvements to the steering, allowing for smaller steering wheel.
The limited edition 'Spot' appeared in spring. Only 1,800 copies were made and sold within six days!

The CX range for 1975 has been greatly extended. The basic 2000 Confort and 2200 Super are identical to previous year models, but there are three new options: 2000 Super and Pallas available with both engines. All new are the 2.2-litre diesel engine and two bodies: a station wagon and a long limousine called Prestige. The latter takes up most of the stampings of the CX sedan, but it benefits from an 25 cm (10 in.) extension of its wheelbase. To preserve the performance the Prestige receives a 2.3-litre engine. It is the same unit as on the old DS 23 with carburettor, developing 115 hp DIN.
The new CX Super are not really new, but rather additional versions created by grouping previously optional equipment and accessories: tachometer and emergency stop warning light, handbrake light, driver seat height adjustment, compressor horn, power windows on the front doors, rubber band on the rear bumper, etc.
Available only with 2 litre or 2.2 lighter petrol engines, the new CX Pallas are distinguished externally by several equipment details: central part of the front bumpers covered with rubber, specific wheel covers covering the entire rim, protective strips on the sides of the bodywork, exterior mirror and chrome exhaust tip, etc. The Pallas is available in two metallic colours reserved for it: Iroise green and Vulcan grey. Inside, the CX Pallas has numerous luxurious fittings: long pile carpet on the floor, velvety carpet on the rear shelf, ashtrays in brushed aluminium, rear ceiling lights, pockets on the back of the front backrests, new leather-look upholstery on the doors, dashboard, steering wheel and centre console. In the Pallas, the standard seat upholstery is in plain blue-green or caramel velvet jersey; as an option, it is possible to obtain caramel leather upholstery (additional 2,160 F).
The new diesel engine is derived from 2.2-litre petrol unit. Injectors and the injection pump are supplied by Roto Diesel. On the dashboard, the tachometer is replaced with a glow plugs control light. The body has extra reinforcements and additional soundproofing.
The break continue the great reputation of the D-series of being most spacious and comfortable vehicle of this type. The wheel base is 25 cm longer than on the saloon, making it the largest European estate car.
On top of the range there is the Prestige, built on the long wheelbase chassis of the estate, providing 67 cm of space between the back of the front seats and the rear sofa. Standard equipment includes electric windows on all four doors, thick carpet on the floor, rear centre armrest with built-in ashtray, three cigarette lighters, three overhead lights, footrest for rear passengers , front and rear head restraints, etc. On request a movable partition glass between the front and rear seats, an intercom, a telephone, a television can be fitted.
At the end of January 1976, 131 'CX Administration' were delivered to the 60th prefecture.
For 1977 the range is re-organised again with the 2.4-litre engine replacing the 2.2 unit and addition of a 7-passenger 'break familial
