Under the brand name Chevrolet, the General Motors do Brasil is building its own models based on the Opel Kadett and Opel Rekord. The Kadett became the Chevrolet Chevette. Only available as a two-door saloon with a 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine.
Opala based on an old Opel Rekord is sold as a two- and four-door saloon and a two-door estate. The engine is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder. The Comodoro is offered as two- and four-door saloon with a choice of 2.5-litre four-cylinder or 4.1-litre six. The Opala was introduced in 1968, the Comodoro 1971 and the Chevette in 1973. No export to Europe.
For 1978 Chevette got a new front. Estate Opala will be available with more powerfull 4- and 6-cylinder engines as SS4 and SS6.
