The A 441 C of Miles Marie Claude Beaumont and Lella Lombardi at Le Mans (practice?).
The A 442.
Under pressure from the oil company Elf, in the spring of 1972, Alpine and Renault begun work on a new racing car. A year later they started testing the prototype A-440 with a two-litre V-6 engine which produced 285 hp at 9800 rpm. As a result of many improvements the A-441 was created. It won the European Championship in the prototypes of the 2-litres class in 1974.
Encouraged by the success, for the 1975 season Renault, Alpine and Gordini prepared the A-441t a new version of the A-441. Equipped with a turbocharger, it develops 490 hp at 9900 rpm. This model has been entered into the World Sports Car Championship. The first victory came in the first race of the season in March, when Jabouille and Larrousse won the 1000km Mugello.
In April the A-442 with 500 hp made its debut. It seems that this model still needs improvement, but it brought Renault-Alpine third place in the prestigious World Championship behind Alfa Romeo and Porsche.
Pod naciskiem koncernu paliwowego Elf, wiosną 1972 roku Renault i Alpine rozpoczęły prace nad nowym samochodem wyścigowym. W rok później rozpoczęto testy prototypu A-440 z dwulitrowym silnikiem V-6 o mocy 285 KM przy 9800 obr/min. W wyniku udoskonaleń powstał model A-441, który zdobył tytuł Mistrza Europy 1974 w klasie prototypów do 2 litrów.
Zachęcone sukcesem Renault, Alpine i Gordini przygotowały na sezon 1975 nową wersję A-441t wyposażoną w turbosprężarkę i osiągającą moc 490 KM przy 9900 obr/min. Model ten został zgłoszony do Mistrzostw Świata Samochodów Sportowych. Pierwsze zwycięstwo przyszło już w pierwszym wyścigu sezonu w marcu, kiedy to Jabouille i Larrousse zwyciężyli w 1000km of Mugello.
