This year the berlinette is available as an "85" 1.3-litre and 1600 S with 1.6-litre engines. The cars has now wing mirrors and new front indicators from Citroën Dyane. In October the Compétition model gained the 807/G engine with a greater capacity (1596 vs. 1565 cm³) allowing it to exceed 225 km/h. This new 1600 S group IV is recognisable by its wider wheel arches.
The production version of the new A-310 has no louvred rear window and different rear lights as those didn't pass the legal requirements. In October a wing mirror was added as standard equipment for 1973 models.
Alpine produced 1421 cars this year including 387 berlinettes "V85", 459 berlinettes 1600 and 575 coupes A-310.

Exhibited by the Italian firm Coggiola the A-310 Spécial is actually a full scale plaster model with fully equipped cockpit and neat finish. The wheel base has been extended by 7 cm to provide comfort for the occupants of the rear seats. Jean Rédélé was very interested in this 4.4 meters long concept but for now he has no means to put another model into production. It was used for several months to decorate the hall of the Dieppe headquarters.
