AC 3-litre £4,500 approx.
Since the mock-ups created so much interest last year, development work on prototypes has brought this new mid-engined AC to production form. The Girling disc brakes are bigger, the wide wheels are light alloy castings and rubber bumpers resist minor impacts. Modified doors give better vision from the double skinned glass fibre body. Ford make the V6 engine and Hewland the five-speed gearbox.

AC ME 3000 Approx: £5,500
On show at Earls Court for the third successive year, the three-litre mid-engined AC is still not in production, although it is confidently expected that supply troubles will soon be overcome. The trendy body shape conceals a Ford V6 engine mounted transversely behind the two seats where it drives the rear wheels through a five-speed gearbox. Bodywork is in glass-fibre on a steel centre-section. The latest model has a curved (instead of flat) roof, the front-end is modified, and there is a bonnet-top grille in place of the earlier twin slots. A striking, and fast car from a sports car specialist.
