1300 - London

Great Britain

Na rynku amerykańskim model 2000 nosi oznaczenie TR 2000. Pod koniec roku zaprezentowano wersję kombi budowaną przez Carbodies.
W Londynie zaprezentowano przednionapędowy sedan 1300 z samonośnym nadwoziem i niezależnym zawieszeniem.
W marcu Spitfire 4 został zastąpimy przez Mk II, z silnikiem o nieco większej mocy i lepszym wykończeniem wnętrza.

Spitfire MkII has 67 bhp, 93 mph max, and better trim.
Launched in 1965, 1300 has scaled down Triumph 2000 styling by Michelotti, and well equipped interior with wood veneer dash. The gearbox is mounted underneath driving front wheels. Suspension is all independent by coil springs, and front brakes are discs.

From Britain there are new versions of the Triumph TR4 and Spitfire. The TR4A now has independent rear suspension which is directly related to the 2000 and fitted to a new chassis. A complex, light-alloy casting forms a semi-trailing link each side with coil springs, and there are angled lever-arm dampers worked by stubby little vertical links in rubber bushes. Almost hidden in the middle of the Standard-Triumph stand, a rear half of the new chassis, complete with all suspension parts and transmission, forever traverses an imaginary carpet of staggered bumps. The new car has cigar-shaped lamp protuberances on the side of each front wing to comply with forthcoming international lighting regulations, and a new dual exhaust system. Inside there is a walnut veneer dashboard (part of the American specification for many months now) and softer seat upholstery. The Spitfire has a little more engine power by virtue of its fabricated (instead of cast iron) exhaust manifold and some internal improvements.
