The largest automobile factory in Japan is an industrial group with its own steel and parts manufacturing facilities employing about 22,000 people. The company began in 1935 with large models in the style of the then Americans. At the same time, the production of trucks was started, with which Toyota also become the leading manufacturer in Japan.
First displayed to the public at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1965, the 2000 GT is from May 16th manufactured under contract by Yamaha. In Japan, it is exclusive to Toyota's Japanese retail sales channel called Toyota Store.
• February: Production commenced at Steels Motor Assemblies of New Zealand.
• April 7th: Production commenced at the Toyota del Peru S.A. assembly plant.
• November 9th: Toyota Motor, Toyota Motor Sales, and Daihatsu sign memorandum related to business collaboration.
