Nowy Rapier, tak jak dotychczas jest luksusową, dwudrzwiową wersją Hillmana Minx. Od ubieglego roku (Series 2) dostępny jest także jako kabriolet.


Long overdue replacement for the old Sunbeam Talbot variant, the 1959 Alpine was launched in the summer. It is based on the Hillman Husky floor pan. Engine is 77 bhp 1494cc twin carb version Hillman Minx unit, giving a top speed of 95 mph. More civilised than concurrent MG and Triumph offerings it have well trimmed interior, wind up windows and reasonable boot space supplemented by space behind the seats. Coil spring ifs cart spring rear and drum brakes but discs are optional as is overdrive and a hard top. Styled by Kenneth Howes, Alpines are built by Armstrong Siddeley.
Series II Production ran to 15,151 cars. The Series III Rapier introduced in September received front disc brakes in place of the all drum system on the Series I and II. The interior feature a new wooden dashboard.
