This year the Nine seems rather overshadowed by the appearance of the new 1½-Litre range. There are only three models (not counting the 9 h.p. Imp). Both saloons are offered as Special models with Preselectagear as standard. A number of improvements had been made to the Nine between 1934 and 1935. The gearbox is now the Armstrong Siddeley preselector instead of the E.N.V. type. The clutch is the newer, twin plate, centrifugal unit.

Nine Merlin
For 1936 the Nine will be offered in only two variants: the new Merlin and an updated Kestrel. The Merlin had adopted the shape of the 1½-Litre Falcon, but will be made in all-steel. The Kestrel accquired the shape of the 1935 1½-Litre Kestrel.

Adelphi
The 8-90 model was introduced in October 1935 with Adelphi and Kestrel coachwork on the 9 ft. 4½; in. chassis. The engine consists basically of two 9 h.p. cylinder blocks on a common crankcase. Naturally the design is updated in many respects to bring it into line with the 1½ litre. It features three gear-driven camshafts, one centrally located inlet and two exhaust. The engine is coupled to an Armstrong Siddeley four speed preselector gearbox.
