The top end 4 GTL received the new 1,108 cm³ engine. The GTL is identifiable by its grey front grille, grey bumpers, and grey plastic strips along the bottoms of the doors. It also has an extra air intake below the front grille (as a result, the registration plate was moved down to the bumper), and 12 inch (304.8 mm) wiper blades instead of the original 10 inch (254 mm) ones.
The 5 Automatic was introduced in January.
Reverse lights are installed as standard on all 16 models.
The Renault 18 went into production at Renault's Flins factory in France in December 1977. It was presented at the Geneva Salon in March 1978, with marketing and sales starting the following month. It is available as a four-door saloon, in TL, GTL, TS and GTS trim variations. The TL and GTL are powered by the 1397 cm³ Renault Cléon petrol engine which is developed from the 1,289 cm³ engine from the Renault 12 producing 64 bhp. Both models has a four-speed gearbox. The TS and GTS are powered by the 1,647 cm³ A-Type engine which is the same as used in the Renault 17 TS but without the fuel injection, which lower the output to 79 bhp. The TS has a four-speed manual gearbox, while the GTS has a 5-speed gearbox (with optional 3-speed electronic automatic transmission available for both models). The automatic versions of the TS and GTS models are called the TS Automatic and GTS Automatic to distinguish them from their manual transmission counterparts.
The 30 TX was introduced in October. It has more powerful Bosch K-Jetronic fuel-injected 144 bhp version of the 2664 cm³ V6 engine, 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic gearbox. It also has alloy wheels, electric windows all-round, electric sunroof, velour upholstery, and front and rear head restraints.

4

4/TL (R4 cyl, 845 cm³, 34 ch)

At around 40 mpg the Renault 4 must be classed as an economy car. But you don't have to pay for this in pokey interiors or any of the usual economy car discomforts.
There are Five doors and four seats. And whether you are crossing rough ground or cruising on the motorway at 70, you will have a smooth comfortable ride.
If you want extra room for luggage, you can make the 10½ cu ft boot bigger by removing the parcel shelf, and there is easy access through a counterbalanced tailgate.
Also available is the 7 cwt van with a 66½ cu ft load capacity and an exceptional height from floor to roof. Loading is through a side-hinged rear door, but there is also an unusual hinged flap which allows easy loading to roof height.
EQUIPMENT INCLUDES: Heater and demister with booster fan, independent fresh air, courtesy light, sun visors, parcel shelves in front (and rear TL), ashtray, childproof rear door locks. TL also has a heated rear window and, as optional extra, reclining front seats.

6 L (845 cm³, 34 ch)
6 TL (1108 cm³, 47 ch)

This is a family car for all the family, even though each member may want quite a different kind of car to the other. It offers saloon car comfort and styling, with ample breathing space for four large adults or a partyload of children. It offers estate car versatility with easy loading of up to 42 cubic feet of cargo through a fifth door. It can cruise smoothly all day at motorway speeds, or can nip equally happily around town, parking in surprisingly small spaces.
Thus, the Renault 6 can adopt any role your family demands of it—saloon car, estate car, economy car—and at 35-40 mph you can afford to make full use of it.
EQUIPMENT INCLUDES: Heater/demister with electric booster fan and face level fresh air vents. Courtesy light. Sun visors. Passenger vanity mirror. Electric screenwasher, two-speed wipers. Anti-theft steering lock. Childproof rear door locks. Glove box, front shelves, large fold-down rear parcel shelf. Exterior door mirror. Reclining front seats. Day/night driving mirror.  Berline (wb: 2489 mm)

In the 13'2" between its polyester bumper shields, the new Renault 14 offers amazingly spacious accommodation. Its distinctly youthful lines suggest it as ideal for a family with two or three teenagers, but there is comfortable room for up to five full-size adults and their luggage. Or the Renault 14 can double as an estate car with its rear seats and parcel shelf folded away.
Large, comfortable seats harmonising with the all-round independent suspension give the Renault 14 a big car feel. An impression confirmed by the comprehensive array of instruments and equipment for comfort and safety.
The transverse 1,218 cc engine hums quietly away at motorway speeds and can average an easy 35 mpg. Yet it packs enough power for an 88 mph top speed, should it be allowed, with front wheel drive and dual circuit servo-assisted brakes helping to keep everything firmly under control.
Around town it is equally at home, moving easily through traffic and slipping without fuss into the tightest parking spaces.
EQUIPMENT INCLUDES:
Heater/demister, variable speed booster fan, side window demisters, face level air vents. Courtesy light. Sun visors, passenger vanity mirror. Cigar lighter. Electric screenwasher, 2-speed wipers. Anti-theft steering lock, childproof rear door locks. Heated rear window. Reversing lights. Front shelf, door pocket, large fold-down rear parcel shelf. Polyester bumper shields. 16

TL (R4 cyl, 1565 cm³, 66 ch)
TX (R4 cyl, 1647 cm³, 90 ch)

The Renault 16 has already earned itself a special place in the history of the motor-car by its outstanding combination of comfort, performance and versatility.
It can give high-speed cruising or low-speed flexibility, and in either case uses petrol sparingly. The smooth, silent ride is brought about by superbly comfortable seats harmonised with the suspension and comprehensive sound-proofing. It is lavishly equipped for comfort and safety. By folding away the rear seats, luggage space can be increased from 12½ cu ft to 25½ cu ft with access through the counterbalanced tailgate.
The 16TL, with a top speed of over 93 mph, can cruise comfortably all day at motorway speeds. 25-30 mpg can be expected.
The Renault 16TX has been designed for motorisis who demand the ultimate in luxury high-speed cruising, but to whom petrol consumption is critical. It has lively acceleration, a 102 mph top speed and an AA Road Test reported 31 mpg overall.
Dual-circuit servo-assisted brakes have discs in front and a pressure limiter in the rear brake line. Long wheelbase, all independent suspension and front-wheel drive give straight-line stability et high speed and excellent cornering. The 16TX is distinguishable from the TL by its four separate iodine vapour headlights, Gordini-style sports wheels, drag-reducing aerodynamic spoiler and electrically operated rear wash/wiper system.
EQUIPMENT INCLUDES: Heater/demister with variable speed booster. Independent fresh air vents. Courtesy light. Sun visors, with passenger vanity mirror. Electric screenwasher with 2-speed wipers.
