Ta dość nietypowa forma promocji została poparta intensywną reklamą w prasie, radiu i telewizji.
(motor 66/30-7)

The Dauphine debuted on March 6, at Paris' Palais de Chaillot with over twenty thousand people attending, two days before its official introduction at the 1956 Salon International de l'Auto in Geneva. The Dauphine uses a version of the 4CV's water-cooled Ventoux engine with capacity increased from 760 cc to 845 cc, and power increased from 19 to 32 bhp.
Facelifted Frégate is powered by the new 2141 cc Etendard engine, which produce 77 bhp. A new, luxurious Grand Pavois trim package was launched the same year. An estate variant, the Domaine replaced the Colorale and is powered by the 2141 cc Etendard engine.
On 5 September 1956, the whistle of the powerful turbine ricocheted round the salt lake of Bonneville in the USA. A few instants later, the world speed reCord lay in tatters. The Étoile Filante had reached 306.9 km/h over a kilometre, and 308.85 km/h over 5 km.

The Renault range comprises the little 4 c.v. and 845 c.c. Dauphine, both rear-engined, and the larger Frégate of conventional layout. The only important modification is the fitting of a normal four-speed gear box with direct top speed (no built-in overdrive) to the Frégate series (2-litre Caravelle, 2.14-litre Frégate and Grand Pavois). The 4 c.v, is shown in various forms from the cheap "affaires" with painted bumpers and simplified trim, to the more luxurious "sport" model, and there is a Dauphine taxi with sliding division, handsomely two-toned in red and black.
