Renault 1944

300 kg (AHG) furgonette 6 CV

France

The Billancourt factories reopened just after liberation in September 1944. Under unclear circumstances Louis Renault was acused of collaboration with the enemy. After a speedy trial he was incarcerated in Fresnes prison on 24 October. Also accused were Gabriel Voisin, Marius Berliet and many other manufacturers. Louis Renault was charged under the official pretext of trading with the enemy, but in reality, he has mostly been the victim of sordid political maneuvering having nothing to do with the noble cause of true resistant. The engineer and lawyer Pierre Lefaucheux becomes provisional administrator of the factory in October 1944.
