Oxford Mk V – new model in March
Mini Minor – new model in August

Dało to niespotykanie zwarty układ napędowy.
The production version of the Mini was demonstrated to the press in April 1959, and by August several thousand cars had been produced ready for the first sales. The Mini was officially announced to the public on 26 August 1959. Some 2,000 cars had already been sent abroad and were displayed that day in almost 100 countries. The brain child of Alec Issigonis it features a simple but practical two-door body with a 10 in. wheel at each corner, a transversely-mounted 848-cc 34-bhp (net) engine, four-speed gearbox, front-wheel drive and all-independent rubber cone-spring suspension. Also available is an Austin version called the Seven-which is distinguishable by its different grille. Both versions are available in basic and de luxe forms, priced at £497 and £537 resp. (incl. PT).

The Morris Oxford Series V 'Farina' is identical to the Austin A55 Cambridge except for radiator grille design, detail body fittings, badges and interior layout. It arrived on the scene early in 1959. It has the 55bhp 1489cc engine and basically unchanged mechanicals of it's predecessor and mounted in a heavier body has slightly worse performance.
