MINI 850 £1,496
Important improvements have made the Mini quieter, more comfortable, more convenient to use. New sub frame mountings, front and rear, cut noise and vibration, softer suspension units with revised dampers give a smoother ride. Seats are re-shaped. Brake and clutch pedals are larger, minor controls are grouped on the column, all models now have two-speed wipers and electric washers and a more convenient ignition/steering lock.

MINI CLUBMAN ESTATE £1,722
Maximum-capacity Mini with the square-cut Clubman front and two separate rear doors which are more convenient than a lift-up rear panel on a low-built car. Clubman saloon and station wagon have the new sub frame mountings, pedals and controls but Estates, which have to cope with heavier loads, do not have the softer suspension. On the Continent, Minis have had 1100 c.c. engines for sometime.

A big engine with single carburetter gives lively performance and good economy with more flexibility and less temperament than the twin carburetters of the old Mini Coopers. 12-inch wheels replace the original 10-inch and are shod with low-profile radial tyres: another recipe for road holding plus comfort and economy. Detail improvements to mechanical parts, structure and interior make the latest version still more attractive.
