Zaprezentowane w Genewie, bardziej luksusowe wersje coupe i kabrioletów oparte są na serii W 112. Tak jak limuzyny, są one standardowo wyposażone w hamulce tarczowe, automatyczną skrzynę biegów i pneumatyczne, samopoziomujące zawieszenie. Różnica w cenie jest dość znaczna: Coupe W 111 kosztuje 23500 a W 112 31350 DM, Cabriolet odpowiednio 25500 i 33350 DM. Silnik 300 SE wykonany jest z aluminium.
We wrześniu wyprodukowano milionowego powojennego Mercedesa.
- "Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH", in which Daimler-Benz has a 71% holding, takes over the license to manufacture the MB 836/820, MB 835/839 and MB 518 heavy-duty engines.
- March 15 - 25: The 300 SE Coupe and Cabriolet (W 112) models are presented at the Geneva Motor Show. As with the sedan they are based on, both are fitted with air suspension, automatic transmission and four disc brakes as standard. Production from February. 300d (W189) was discontinued.
- April: 220Sb with disc brakes.
- August: 190c (W110) ,220b and 220Sb (W111) available with optional automatic transmission.
- September: The one-millionth post-war Mercedes-Benz passenger car, a 220 SE (W 111) model, rolls off the Sindelfingen assembly line.

- 23 - 27 May: The driver pairing Eugen Böhringer and Peter Lang wins the overall classification at the Acropolis Rally in Greece in a Mercedes-Benz 220 SE.
- 2 - 6 August: In the Poland Rally Böhringer and Peter Lang again achieve overall victory.
- 14 - 25 August: Alfred Becker/ Rudi Golderer in a Mercedes-Benz 220 SE score overall victory in the Tour d'Europe, the longest rally on the continent, covering some 9500 km.
- 17 - 19 August: The ladies’ team of Ewy Rosqvist and Ursula Wirth win the "Coupe des Dames" in a Mercedes-Benz 220 SE at the Thousand Lakes Rally, which takes them 2000 km across Finland.
- 23 August - 3 September: Eugen Böhringer and Hermann Eger in a Mercedes-Benz 220 SE are overall winners of the Liège - Sofia- Liège long-distance rally. This is the third win of the season for Böhringer, who rings out the 1962 racing year by winning the European Rally Championship.
- October 25 - November 4: Ewy Rosqvist and her co-driver Ursula Wirth win the Argentinean Touring Car Grand Prix in a Mercedes-Benz 220 SE.
- Fall: The Böhringer/Lang/Eger driver team win the European Rally Championship in a Mercedes-Benz 220 SE.
