Wprowadzono bliźniaczy model 190 (W 121), dający rozpoznać się po trójkątnym okienku w przednich drzwiach. Zasadnicze różnice tkwią pod maską, bowiem zastosowano silnik 1,9 o mocy 75 KM pochodzący ze 190 SL. Jako wyposażenie dodatkowe można zamówić pasy bezpieczeństwa dla pasażerów przednich siedzeń.
Niewielką modernizację przeszedł roadster 190 SL. Tylne lampy są teraz identyczne jak w sedanie 220. Do standartowego wyposażenia weszły dwa boczne lusterka, dodatkowy sygnał dźwiękowy Bosch i układ wspomagania hamulców ATE. Zastosowanie tego silnika w sedanie pozwoli znacznie obniżyć koszty produkcji.
