The Indy America 4.2 and 4.7 were replaced the model with the 4.9-litre engine. This version is fitted with a new gearbox, new 15 inch wheels replaced the earlier 14 inch, and a new air conditioning system. The traditional Maserati servo-assisted braking system is replaced by Citroën's high pressure pump system. Externally the 4.9-litre version is distinguishable by an extra bonnet grille situated on the right-hand side just ahead of the windshield wipers.
