Seven series 2 from mid-1960, gets long front wings (cycle-type being still available as an option) and nose cone in GRP, plus Anglia 105E engine option.
Elte series 2 from 1960, gets revised rear suspension and improved interior. Also in 1960, SE model gets 85 bhp, and close ratio ZF box, and Super 95, Super 100 and Super 105, get tuned engines with power outputs indicated by suffix. Always sold as a partially built kit, and most have now suffered from crazing of fibre glass.

The first Lotus Formula-1 victory by Stirling Moss at Monaco GP.

ALL ENTRIES this year are Elites, including a works car to be driven by Innes Ireland and A. N. Other. This latter is an experimental prototype fitted with a Coventry Climax twin-camshaft FPF engine of 2 litres' capacity (actually a modified 2 ½-litre unit). To withstand a power output in the region of 170 b.h.p. the transmission has been changed, a new close-ratio, four-speed, all-synchromesh gearbox being fitted. The final drive assembly is new, with increased torque capacity and a Z.F. limited-slip differential. Externally the car appears unchanged, but front suspension is the same as that of the current formula 1 cars, with double tubular wishbones, coil springs and adjustable Armstrong telescopic dampers. At the rear, the strut-type suspension is identical with that of last year's formula 1 cars. Girling disc brakes are of greater diameter, those at the rear being mounted inboard of the drive shafts. Fuel tank and spare wheel positions have been transposed for more rapid access to the wheel during the race. Fourteen gallons are carried in the tail and five in a tank in the left wing valance, as on the original Elite. Dry weight is about 1 ½ cwt more than the production car. David Buxton has entered three Elites as a team. These are standard, with engines at stage 3 tune. The fifth Elite is a French private entry by R. Masson, the sixth being on the reserve list.
