Wimille 1950

Despite unexpected death of its creator the development of the Wimille sports car continues. Prepared during the winter of 1949-1950 and fully tested through the summer, the third prototype was ready for the Paris Show in October where it was displayed on the stand of bodybuilders Faget et Vamet. They are considering manufacturing and marketing several hundred copies at a price of 1,500,000 Francs. Bearing the original J.P. Wimille's concept with centrally located engine-transmission, three seats, steering wheel in the middle and streamlined body the car is now powered by the latest Ford Vetette's V-8.
Unfortunately the project faced another major obstacle with Ford's refusal to provide any further technical or commercial support, and to deliver engines or other mechanical components. After completing a few cars the project had to be abandoned.

Mimo niespodziewanej śmierci inicjatora projektu rozwój sportowego samochodu Wimille trwa. Przygotowany zimą 1949-1950 i w pełni przetestowany latem, trzeci prototyp był gotowy na paryską wystawę w październiku, gdzie został wystawiony na stoisku firmy nadwoziowej Faget et Vamet. Bierze ona pod uwagę produkcję i wprowadzanie do obrotu kilkuset egzemplarzy w cenie 1.500.000 franków. Kontynuując oryginalną koncepcję J. P. Wimille samochód ma centralnie umieszczony silnik, trzy fotele z kierownicą po środku i opływową karoserię. Jest on teraz napędzany najnowszym V-8 pochodzącym z Forda Vetette.
Niestety projekt napotkał kolejną przeszkodę. Ford odmówił dalszego wsparcia technicznego lub handlowego, oraz dostarczania silników lub innych elementów mechanicznych. Po ukończeniu kilku samochodów przyjaciele J.P. Wimille zmuszeni byli zaprzestać dalszych prób.
