Planned to fill the gap in the traditional sports car market left by the demise of the Austin-Healey, the Jensen Healey is produced by an American syndicate that bought the Jensen business. The engine is the advanced new light-alloy Lotus with twin belt-driven overhead camshafts; the gearbox comes from the Sunbeam Rapier H 120. Front and rear suspension are modified Viva.

SP stands for Six Pack, which means three twin-choke carburetters on a 7.2-litre Chrysler V8 engine (the normal Interceptor is 6.3). The fastest Jensen yet, this one is identified by a louvred bonnet. Transmission is by Torqueflite automatic transmission and limited-slip differential. Electric control for passenger's door lock, power steering, air conditioning, stereo tape player.
