XK 120 DHC was in production from March 1953 to October 1954.
Jaguar D-type (Series XKD) Sports/ Roadster came off the secret list in the spring of 1954, to replace the highly successful XK 120C. The 3442-cc triple-carburettor power unit develop 250 bhp. The D-type did not become available until the autumn of 1954-and then only to selected customers.


XK 120 został w tym roku zmodernizowany. Od 1948 roku, kiedy został zaprezentowany roadster powstało 7631 roadsterów. W tym czasie wprowadzono dwie nowe wersje nadwoziowe Fixed Head Coupé i Drophead Coupé.
Wersja seryjna nowego XK 140 ma moc zwiększoną ze 160 do 190 KM, zaś odmiana wyścigowa D-type z nadwoziem samonośnym osiąga 253 KM.
