Innocenti began automobile production in 1960 assembling for the Italian market, some slightly modified Austins A40 and a small coupe with OSI body and the mechanics of the Austin-Healey Sprite. Then came the BMC Mini and 1100 models. Today Innocenti is Italy's third largest auto factory after Fiat and Alfa Romeo.
