Pierwszy Minx z samonośnym nadwoziem został zaprezentowany krótko przed wybuchem II Wojny Światowej. Produkcję kontynuowano jeszcze po 1939 roku. W grudniu w ofercie pojawił się ulepszony Minx Phase II z reflektorami wbudowanymi w botniki i tarczowymi koami. Silnik nadal ma rozrząd bocznozaworowy, ale samochód wyposażono w hydrauliczne hamulce.

Pięcioosobowa czterodrzwiowa kareta Minx jest jednym z nielicznych brytyjskich samochodów bezramowych. Powojenny model karety Minx ma szereg drobnych ulepszeń, jak lip. specjalne zatrzaski, ułatwiające zamykanie drzwi bez potrzeby silnego zatrzaskiwania, samoczynnie zapalająca się lampka wewnątrz bagażnika, większa ochrona przeciw rdzewieniu itd. Silnik o litrażu 1.185 cm sześć, ma ulepszone komory spalania. Skrzynka przekładniowa jest wzmocniona. Zawieszenie jest uzupełnione przez dodanie drążka skrętnego sprzęgającego oba tylne amortyzatory.

Hillman Minx Saloon is a carryover from 1946 and sold at £474 (DeLuxe). The car have an integral welded body-cum-chassis structure and conventional suspension with semi-elliptic leaf springs front and rear. Minx Drophead Coupé is an attractive variant selling at £557. An Estate car is also offered, based on the Commer light van (itself a derivative from the Minx). The Minx was in production from August 1945, until December 1947.
Hillman Minx for 1948, announced in December 1947, and known as the Mark II, is facelifted and modified in several respects. Bonnet, bumpers, front wings and dashboard are restyled and the four-speed gearbox have steering-column gearshift. The radiator grille is no longer integral with the bonnet and the headlamps built-in. The wheels are now of the full-disc type. Another important modification is the change from mechanical to hydraulic brakes.

Proved "Cushioned Power" engine mounting gives smooth running and eliminates vibration.
BALANCED RIDE SUSPENSION, incorporating Variload springing, ensures those excellent riding qualities over all types of road surfaces for which the Hillman Minx has become renowned. All occupants are seated within the wheelbase on "contour-correct" deeply-upholstered seats.
ALL-STEEL BODY AND FRAME UNIT provide an integrated engineering structure of immense strength and safety. This scientific method of marrying frame and body gives an added margin of safety to all occupants and ensures silent coachwork.
OUTSIZE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT has been designed to carry in safety and free from dust and dirt an exceptional quantity of luggage, including golf clubs which can be accommodated within the width of the enclosed compartment. Lid rises easily to fully open position after catch has been raised, special spring-poise prevents it falling. At night, even when open red light shows to rear— an important safety feature. Spare wheel and tyre, four-corner jack and compact tool kit are located in separate locker so that it is unnecessary to remove luggage if a wheel has to be changed.
TRI-POSITION DRIVING SEAT is adjustable for height,, slope and leg room. adjustable for leg room. Front passenger seat is also adjustable for legroom.
NATURAL RAKE STEERING gives precision control. Improved lubrication and sealing for swivel pin bushes ensures long life and maintains lightness and accuracy of steering. Right or left hand drive optional.

Elimination of old-fashioned gear lever gives increased roominess in front compartment and easier, safer, entrance and exit.
