A Better Idea Called Ford Fairmont.
"When America needs a better idea, Ford puts it on wheels." And Ford's better idea for an America in need of efficient cars is Fairmont.
Fairmont ... a family car for the future ... built for today, but designed for the years to come.
Fairmont is a completely new line of cars designed from the ground up to be fuel efficient, space efficient and cost efficient. While Fairmont is trim outside, it's roomy inside. It's a strong performer, yet easy on gas. And, in typical Ford fashion, while Fairmont is stylish, it doesn't cost a lot.

Three basic Fairmonts, almost countless variations.
Another of the beauties of Fairmont is also one of its better ideas. You can take any of the three models and embellish it to your taste with special Fairmont options. For example, add the Exterior Decor Group with its bright moldings, mirrors, turbine wheel covers, and other items. Or the Interior Decor Group with flight bench seat plus a dozen additional features. Or the E.S. option for sedans with features inside and out that can give your Fairmont the look of a European road car. Or the Squire Option that adds many rich touches, including wood-grain vinyl body panels, to the wagon. and there is a lot more where these come from. Practical, indeed, but a car you can personalize in nearly any way you want to. That's an important part, too, of Fairmont–the Ford in your future.

A Better Idea Called Ford Granada.
Ever since 1975, when Granada's classic design made its debut, it has been a top seller in its class. And for 1978, as you would expect, Granada continues to offer a level of riding comfort, driving performance and styling that is comparable to cars costing much more. Granada's five-passenger riding comfort comes from an independent front suspension–with stabilizer bar–and a Hotchkiss-drive rear suspension, which are tuned to the radial tires. And from sound absorbing insulation, body mounts in vibration-prone areas, and careful assembly which results in smooth-fitting body panels.
Granada's driving performance comes from an economical 4.1 litre (250 CID) 1 V overhead valve 6-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual overdrive floor shift transmission.
For 1978, Granada's classic styling is enhanced through subtle refinements to the grille, new rectangular headlamps, new twin opera windows (2-door), and new, one-piece, wraparound tricolour taillamp lenses. And it's yours to enjoy in standard Granada trim, in luxurious Ghia fashion, or in the distinctive new ESS mode.

A Better Idea Called LTD II.
The LTD Tradition. Introduced just last year, LTD II is already a resounding success. Even more so than we imagined. Why? Perhaps it's because LTD II is such a unique combination. A mid-size car that combines the high quality and comfort of LTD with the sporty spirit and flair of Mustang II.
Perhaps it's LTD II's wide selection of models. You can select the LTD II S, the LTD II or the LTD II Brougham, all in 2- or 4-door models. That's six selections in all, not mention the many different option packages.
Or maybe it's LTD II's roominess. Room for six adults.
Or LTD II's long wheelbase. The 4-Door is longer than even the best-selling full-size. And all LTD II's have the same basic suspension as Mark V. All of which adds up a ride and manoeuvrability that's a pleasure to experience.
It could be LTD II's fine fuel economy, now when it's needed most.
Or LTD II's impressive list of luxury standard equipment.
Most likely LTD II's great success is a result of a combination of all these reasons. Plus one more important one would know for sure. Its price.
Why not visit your local Ford Dealer and see how many reasons you can come up with. Ford LTD II. Carrying on in the LTD tradition.

A Better Idea Called Ford LTD.

This is the big Ford-LTD, with all that the name
has come to mean in 6-passenger roominess and comfort, in quality workmanship, and the ride that made a car famous. LTD and LTD Landau ... 2-door and 4-door pillared hardtops plus big LTD wagons ... full-size proof that when America needs a better idea,. Ford puts it on wheels.
A family car built to fine car standards. We've, changed LTD very little. Because just as it is, LTD is one of Americas finest family cars.
A meaningful test drive. If you've looked longingly at LTD in past years, this year by all means get behind the wheel and drive it. Here is where the legend comes alive. LTD's long 121-inch wheelbase, finely tuned suspension and special LTD sound insulation. Each contributes to the remarkable riding quality of LTD.
The luxury of LTD Landau challenges cars costing thousands more. Landau interiors are plush, well-tailored. Flight bench seat with folding center armrest, carpeted lower door panels, electric clock, color-keyed deluxe belts are a few of Landau's luxurious features.
Also standard on the Landau are half-vinyl roof (2-door) or full-vinyl roof (4 door), concealed headlamps, wide color keyed bodyside moldings, full wheel covers, 5.0 litre (302 CID) 2V V-8, SelectShift automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and more.

A Better Idea Called Mustang II.
The Mustang II Legend! There once was a car that was the best seller in its class. And you know what? It still is. It's called Mustang II. And it has been a leader since the day it was born. Why? Mustang II's 2.3 litre 2V overhead cam, 4-cylinder engine is a major factor. We like to think of it as our "perfect blend." It gives excellent performance. Quick, easy starts. Perky acceleration when you really need it. Yet it still provides very good EPA fuel economy at a time when it's so essential.
Noteworthy, too, are the many choices. Ghia, 2+2, Mach 1, Cobra II, our first King Cobra, and basic Mustang II. Then there is Mustang II's rear bucket seat design for 4-passenger comfort. And the many interior selections Featuring names like Fresno, Wilshire and Stirling for a look and feel you won't want to miss. Mustang II for '78. It has it all. Performance. Economy. Choice. Innovation Comfort.
No wonder Mustang II is already a legend in its own time.
