The 12M is on the market since the autumn of 1965. With the introduction of the new Escort the program has been revised, bringing this model higher up in the Ford range. The 1200 and 1300 S engines, both hardly in demand anyway, are abandoned, leaving the normal 1300 cc engine, and there is now also the 12 M with either 1.5 or 1.7 litre units. As before, 12 M and 15 M have the same body, the former with square headlights and larger rear lights. The 15 M has been available since August 1968 as a luxury version XL, which replaced the former 15 M TS. Special features of the 15 M XL are the matt black radiator grille, a black trim strip on the rear, standard reclining seats and a dashboard with wood trim. Both the 12 M and the 15 M now have round instruments and a padded steering wheel with baffle. Three engines are available for the 15M and 15M XL, as 1.5L with 55 or 65 bhp and 1.7L with 75 bhp power. The top model is the 15 M RS XL with additional halogen headlamps in the grill, sporty rims, radial tires, exclusively available with the 75 bhp engine. Depending on the body, equipment and engine, the 12 M costs between 6000 and 7200 DM, the 15 M between 6500 and 7800 DM.

The shrinking sales figures for the 17 M and 20 M in the version built since the fall of 1967 forced Ford to revise this model just a year later. The body line is tightened with the hump over the rear wheels gone. Front and rear show a clearer difference between 17 M and 20 M. Both models got a padded steering wheel with baffle, wider rims and trailing arm on the rear axle for better handling. The prices for the new 17 M are between 7700 and 9200 DM, for the 20 M between 8900 and 10300 DM and for the RS models between 9200 and 10800 DM.

The Escort - developed by the English Ford as a single model for Europe - is offered in Germany since September 1968 although production began in January. Ford in Cologne took time to adapt the Escort to the conditions of the German market and to expand the program. Thus, the local version of this model got a stabilizer on the front axle, wider rims, a modified exhaust system and a so-called baffle pot attached steering wheel, which is a safety device, a cheaper equivalent of a safety steering column.
For Germany, there are two Escort models with 1100 cc engine and 40 or 45 hp (for the same price) and three models with 1300 cc and 48, 52 or 64 hp, this highest performance however only for the top model 1300 GT. In addition there is the Escort XL with better equipment and more chrome. The Escort 1100 has round and the 1300 square headlights. The 1300 GT with standard belt tires and additional instruments can be recognized by the matt black radiator grille. The smooth-running and economical engines, the good performance and handling, the proper heating and ventilation, the comfortable front seats as well as the large luggage compartment are pleasing to the new Ford Escort. Criticism however come for the uncomfortable rear seat, the limited view backwards because of the unnecessarily high rear window, the primitive and hard-sprung rear axle. The latter especially affects the fastest 1300 GT. Altogether there are 21 variants of the German Ford Escort with prices from 5400 to 6600 DM. Two export models with 940 ccm engine and 34 or 36 HP are not intended for the German market. The Escort Twin Cam is not available in Germany.

Ford Berliner - studium samochodu miejskiego, opracowanego przez zakłady Ford.
Pod kierunkiem głównego projektanta firmy Ford - H. Mutha opracowano prototyp miejskiego auta, który oceniono jako jeżdżące laboratorium badawcze. Prowadzane próby mają na celu zdobycie doświadczeń przed ewentualnym uruchomieniem produkcji coraz modniejszych, choć jeszcze seryjnie nie produkowanych samochodów miejskich. Ford posiada długość 2,13 m rozstaw osi, - szerokość i wysokość - jednakowe - 1,37 m. Przewidziany jest do przewozu dwóch osób dorosłych i dwojga dzieci. Na przednie miejsca wsiada się przez drzwi umieszczone z boku nadwozia, zaś na tylne przez wąskie drzwi z tylu wozu. Nie zdecydowano jeszcze czy Ford Berliner - jak nazwano prototyp tego samochodu miejskiego - napędzany będzie silnikiem spalinowym czy elektrycznym. Oba znajdują się w próbach.
