The engine of the 365 GTC is an enlarged version of that fitted to the 330 GTC, and identical to that used in the 365 GT 2+2. It is a single overhead camshaft per bank V12 unit of 4390cc capacity, with a bore and stroke of 81mm x 71mm. It is fitted with a bank of three twin-choke Weber carburettors, with a twin coil and rear-of-engine mounted twin distributor ignition system, to produce a claimed 320hp.
The 365 GTB4 berlinetta is the replacement for the 275 GTB4 model made its public debut at the Paris Salon, in the autumn. It almost immediately became known as the “Daytona”, although this is an unofficial title given by the media of the time, supposedly in recognition of the Ferrari 1-2-3 victory in the Daytona 24-Hour Race in 1967. A modern Pininfarina design features a full width Plexiglass strip behind which were mounted a twin headlight assembly at each side, running into the wing sides with the side/turn indicator units.
