500 F2

Ferrari 500 at German GP, Nurburgring. Alberto Ascari & Mike Hawthorn.

375 S (#010)
GOLD STAR winner for 1953, J. M. Hawthorn pushing Mr. Tony Vandervell's "Thin Wall Special" into Madgwick Corner, Goodwood September meeting, when he defeated the B.R.M.s in the Goodwood Trophy at record speed. The car is a modified 4.5litre V-12 Ferrari with dual ignition and disc brakes.
The Motor Year Book 1954

SHAPE of things to come? Experimental short chassis Ferrari with side fuel tanks and lower bonnet line which was tried during the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. With Formula II 2-litre engines of a much-modified design, the two cars showed no great speed and appeared diffcult to drive in curves.
The Motor Year Book 1954
