168 — new model

France

Pozostałe nowości na przyszły rok to większy silnik w modelu 134 G i ujednolicona oferta sportowych 135 M. Wszystkie modele mają teraz niezależne zawieszenie przednich kół.
Wstydliwie pominięty w katalogu Delahaye model 168 to kuriozalne połączenie podwozia 148 L z karoserią Renault.
This year Delahaye continues production of three basic models: 4-cylinder 134 N, luxury 148 and sports 135. The novelty is 148 L (Léger) with shorter wheelbase and mechanical, instead of hydraulic, brakes.
The winner of the ACF award, the model 145, found its way into the catalog this year and is offered for a staggering sum of 175,000 francs.
The star of the October Paris Show was a new type 165 with a vee 12-cylinder engine, which is derived from the high-performance 145 model. For use in normal road conditions, its power has been reduced by about 60 hp. The streamlined roadster body was created in the studio of Figoni & Falaschi.
Other new products for the next year include a larger engine for the 134 G and a standardized range of the sporty 135 M. All 1939 models now have independent front-wheel suspension.
Omitted from the Delahaye catalog, the 168 model is a bizarre combination of the 148 L chassis with the Renault body.

Delahaye 165 Figoni & Falaschi.
Całość bez zarzutu, niezwykle smukła i harmonijna.

The V-12 cylinder type 145 with its bi-place bodywork is not a true GP race car. After very promising start with two victories in GP Pau and GP Cork, the rest of the season was rather disappointing. The best result achieved by this model in European Championschip was 5th place in German GP. Both cars entered by Ecuire Bleue in 24h Le Mans retired at the very beginning of the race.

René Dreyfus in the 145 chaising Hermann Lang's 400 bhp Mercedes-Benz W 154 in GP Pau.
The developement of the 155 was udertaken in 1937 and 1938 under the direction of engineer Jean François who supervises the competition department of the Delahaye since 1933. With his team, he created the 135 sports derivatives which forged the image of the brand. The Type 155 single-seater uses the 4.5-liter V12-cylinder engine that powers the 145 two-seater. The chassis has significant differences, with a better front and a completely new rear suspension. At the front, the transverse leaf spring of the 145 remains but the friction dampers are replaced by placed very high hydraulic dampers. At the rear, the suspension of the 145 (rigid axle with longitudinal leaf springs) disappears in favor of a Dion axle device with transverse leaf spring and longitudinal arms. The 155 single-seater appeared for the first time in the trials of the 1938 German Grand Prix run on July 24 at the Nürburgring. It proved not competitive at and R. Dreyfus prefers to start in a 145. At the 1938 Donington Grand Prix, the only race she start, the 155 to retired at the 23rd lap because of the oil pump problem. Insufficiently prepared, the 155 did not participate in any more trials.
