DATSUN 1200 £865 (incl. P.T.)
A good value Japanese four-door saloon with a surprisingly high performance for 1171 c.c. and an obvious competitor for the Escort/Viva sector. The Datsun 1200 has a long-stroke version of the '1000' engine, and is in unit with an identical four-speed gearbox. Disc front brakes are standard on U.K. models and the neat little saloon can approach 90 m.p.h. Fuel consumption at lower velocities averages around 35 m.p.g. There is a good ventilation system, and the front seats recline. Unusual for a car from the land of small people, the Datsun 1200 has ample front seat adjustment.

DATSUN 1800 £1,386 (incl. P.T.)
A good-looking Japanese four-door saloon with a very responsive four-cylinder overhead camshaft engine which develops an impressive 105 horsepower (SAE) and gives it a top speed of 103 m.p.h., as well as a 'standing quarter-mile' in 18.1 seconds. Suspension is independent all-round, and there is a luxury interior with optional fully-reclining seats. The instrument panel is well laid-out and the ventilation system is highly effective. Equipment is comprehensive and includes an under-bonnet inspection lamp with an extendable lead. A three-speed automatic transmission is also available.
