The GS Break was launched this year in three and five door versions and the Break-based Service vans. These latter models are available in three versions - a three door unglazed van, a three door glazed Break Commerciale and a five door Break Commerciale. The five door version is effectively the same as the five door Break but without the rear seat.
The DS 21 was replaced by the DS 23 equipped with a 2 347cc engine developing either 124 bhp when fitted with a carburettor or 141 bhp when equipped with fuel injection.

One of today's most versatile and economical cars, provided you don't mind leaning over dramatically on corners. Five doors and a roll-back roof admit sunshine and awkward loads. There is a choice of two engines and the Dyane 6 can have a centrifugal clutch which saves fatigue in traffic driving. Headlamps are quickly adjustable for heavy loads and there is a starting handle.
CITROEN GS ESTATE £1,169
Advanced features on this small French station wagon include self-levelling hydro-pneumatic suspension which ensures fine handling regardless of load and keeps the headlamp beams on the road all the time. Practical circular instruments replace the unusual sort on the original French models. Upholstery can be cloth or vinyl. The power brakes are worked off the suspension high pressure oil supply. The engine is a flat four, air-cooled.
CITROEN DS 23
Latest top model in the Citroen saloon range, the DS 23 has an engine with bigger bores delivering 115 bhp on a Weber carburetter or 130 on Bosch injection. Transmission can be five-speed manual, four-speed with hydraulic servo shift, or BW automatic. Power steering, self-levelling suspension and brakes which proportion their effort according to load are features which keep the DS among the most advanced designs.
CITROEN SM £4,774
Precision metering by Bosch electronic injection gives the latest version of the V6 four-camshaft Maserati engine 178 bhp against the 170 from carburetters. The exhaust is cleaner and fuel consumption is said to be reduced. With injection come fatter tyres. All SMs have self levelling hydro-pneumatic suspension, power steering that varies the effort with speed and six headlamps.
