Barreiros 1967

Barreiros Diesel S.A., until recently family-owned, dates back to 1954. It quickly gained a good name as a manufacturer of trucks, buses and tractors of its own construction. A few years ago, Chrysler acquired a 40% stake in the company. At the end of 1967, the Chrysler share was increased to 77%, while the family holds a 20% stake but continues to chair the board of directors. In addition to its own commercial vehicles, the company Barreiros now also builds passenger cars, namely the Simca 1000 and the Dodge Dart, both known products of the Chrysler Group.
